Delaware, USA- Salesforce is in advanced talks to buy Slack, the workplace instant messaging start-up. Salesforce is reportedly expected to announce the deal after market close Monday when it reports third-quarter earnings. It is expected to price Slack at a premium above its current $24 billion market cap, in half cash, half stock deal.

It would be one of the biggest software acquisitions ever, and potentially the largest since IBM bought Red Hat for $34 billion, a purchase announced in 2018
Like other software companies, Slack has benefited from the work-from-home boom.
